Fried tofu recipe
Ingredients:
- 7 oz of tofu
- 3 tbs olive oil
- 1 tbs chives
- 1 tbs oyster sauce
- 1 cucchiaio di salsa di ostriche
- 1 tbs soy sauce
- 1/2 tbs chili
- 1 tbs fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 tbs sugar
- 1 tbs grounded ginger
Tools:
- a pan
- a spoon
- a pan for rice (if you want rice)
First of all, you will need to drain the tofu: place it on a paper towel and put a weight on it to let all the water out.
Then, cut the tofu into chunks and put aside. In the meantime, heat olive oil, or seed oil, in a pan on medium heat. Add tofu chunks.
Fry all the sides until they become golden brown. Then place the tofu chunks on absorbent paper to let them drain excess oil.
In the same pan, ad chives (or lemongrass), grounded ginger, oyster sauce, soy sauce and fresh lemon juice.Quantities vary according to personal taste.
Stir until the gravy will thicken a bit. This process will take no more than 2 minutes. Now, add tofu in the pan and stir it to coat all the sides with the gravy.
Finally, add the remaining ingredients: groundend black pepper and chili..
Now you just have to serve this fantastic plate with hot basmati riceand a bit of chopped chives on the top.
Tips
To make vegan sauce, you can replace oyster sauce with mushrooms flavoured sauce or black beans sauce.The same way soy sauce can be replaced with Tamari sauce for a thicker result.
Fried tofu can be kept in the fridge for no more than 2-3 days.Before eating it, you might need to pass it in the pan to restore the crispy consistency. Fried tofu, if kept in the freezer, can last even 2 months.
You can serve ried tofu with hot basmati rice, like I did, or with any kind or rice you want. You can even eat it with cauliflower or salad, making it dietary.
